My Latest Small Painting - Egg in Glass

Egg in Glass, oil on canvas, 5x5 inches

I started this small painting from life at the very end of Carol Marine's workshop in Toronto. I made a couple of corrections from a photo since we had to pack up and leave the Heliconian Club where the workshop took place and I did not have time to finish from life. Carol is a great instructor. She is known for her paintings of fruits and vegetables, really nails her values and has great composition and color in her small paintings.

At this time of the year, many of us are experiencing a plethora of tomatoes. I love both how they look and taste!

In honor of back to school, an apple for the teacher. I really enjoyed painting the clear glass plate.

Bugaboo #3

So, I turned around and painted the view in the opposite direction, trying to channel John Singer Sargent. The light changed every couple of minutes which made capturing anything at all rather difficult, but I loved every minute!

Bugaboo #1

The paintings I will be posting over the next few days are not currently for sale. However, there will be an exhibit in conjunction with our trip to the Bugaboos in 2011, so stay tuned!
